My Workspace Makeover - Pi Wall Coming Together!
The rack plan is out, replaced by an IKEA SKÅDIS wall for the Raspberry Pis. It keeps the cluster accessible, visible, and off the desk. Brackets and mounts are printed from Printables, and the wall makes it simple to add or move units as needed.
Current layout
- A handful of Pi 4s with PoE hats
- A PoE switch mounted alongside
- Basic cabling routed behind the board
Why this works better
The wall approach uses vertical space, leaves the desk clear, and makes it easy to see status lights at a glance. Power and networking are simpler to manage, and it is easy to swap out a unit or add another.
Next steps
Add a few more printed mounts for accessories, clean up the cabling, and document the layout properly. The Pis will eventually run clustered services, but for now the focus is getting the physical setup right.
Thanks for reading. If you have a neat SKÅDIS mount or cluster layout, share it so others can build on the idea.
