QCon London 2023: Notes and Highlights

I just got back from QCon London and despite the eye-watering ticket price, it was absolutely worth it. The talks, the people, and the atmosphere all made it one of the best conferences I have been to in years.

The sessions

The variety of sessions stood out. Some were deeply technical, digging into the details of new frameworks and architectures. Others were more reflective, exploring the challenges of scaling teams or building sustainable engineering practices. I came away with a notebook full of ideas and plenty of things to research further.

The people

Conferences like this are as much about the conversations in the hallway as the talks themselves. I met developers from all sorts of backgrounds and industries, and those chats often gave me as much insight as the official sessions. It was a reminder of how valuable it is to connect with people facing similar challenges in different contexts.

Why I keep coming back

This was not my first QCon, and it will not be my last. The content is consistently strong, and the community feels open and welcoming. Even when a session is not directly relevant to my work, I usually pick up something useful.

The price tag still stings, but I see it as an investment in my skills and my career. The return is more than worth it.

Thanks for reading. If you attended QCon this year too, I would love to hear what stood out for you.
